The Eastern Regional Health Authority (ERHA) refutes the inaccurate and misleading statement that has been circulating in the media on December 29, 2025 which alleged that the “Sangre Grande Hospital Faces Serious Resources Shortage.”
Recognising the changing epidemiological profile of our clients in the Eastern region, the Authority strengthened our primary care thrust and increased the number of outreach programmes during the last year with a strong emphasis on promotion, prevention and rehabilitation to inform and educate clients on the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle. This approach has contributed to a reduction in the number of clients accessing healthcare services at the A&E during the Christmas period. The bed management system which was implemented has also assisted to ensure that there were no shortage of beds at the facility. Staff were able to efficiently track and allocate resources to optimize patient flow from admission to discharge.
Additionally, in anticipation of any possible increase in patient intake or staff shortage in the department, systems were put in place to ensure that linens were replenished daily based on consumption. Rostered staff also reported for duty on Christmas Day and Boxing Day and executed their assigned duties to ensure compliance with all established practices.
The ERHA reassures the public that we remain committed to quality healthcare.
